About the Messenger
Who We Are
The Messenger publishes a monthly community newspaper and a seasonal guide covering several Towns in the Nashoba Valley region of North Central Massachusetts. Unlike other "newspapers" The Messenger's focus is on volunteers and others doing good work toward the betterment of their community.
The Nashoba Valley Guide is a seasonal magazine meant to offer travellers and residents alike a snapshot of the area, which changes substantially with the seasons.
We publish announcements from non-profits and others; most published free-of-charge. Area volunteer organizations are encouraged to send in their FUNd-raising and free event notices. Some events have made the front page of The Messenger because of their outstanding benefit to our communities.Supported solely by advertising dollars from for-profit business, we encourage local business owners to contact us regarding how we can help them grow their business through advertising and continuing to provide these valuable resources to the community.

Monthly Columns
Many wonderful “regular” monthly columns have been added over time. Written by local business owners and other experts, these columns offer sound advice and insights into things important to us on a daily basis. Seldom will you find "bad news".
Our two newest contributors, Chef Mark DiCicco of Lucia's Tavola in Brookline NH and Louise Taylor of Nashoba Valley Garden Center offer tips on cooking and gardening respectively. In “Gone Fishin” by John Ricciardi, of Pepperell, you will find information on local fishing and local history. You might read John’s latest thoughts on environmental issues or the latest sports championship won. John offers interesting stories and food for thought. “The Quilter’s Needle” is a monthly submission by Townsend resident and Quilt Historian Joan Leahy-Blanchard. Joan has studied quilting since a very early age and is a Founding Member of The Squanicook Quilt Guild. Each month Joan offers a new quilt-block pattern and instructions with a history of its origin.
