Submission Guidelines

The FREE Messenger is a monthly snapshot of what is coming up in the North Central Massachusetts area, centering on Townsend, Mass. Our focus is on non-profits and small business within the community. Along with reader-submitted announcements about upcoming FUNd-raising events we offer well-written, informative articles from professionals within the community. Submissions are welcome and may or may not be used, at the discretion of the editor. If you are interested in submitting an article or becoming a monthly columnist, please outline your ideas in an email and send to tandpnews@comcast.net

We go through every email we receive, and we receive A LOT, so please be patient in waiting for a response from us.

Details: Articles must be original. The Messenger claims no rights, but others do. If you are submitting an article that has been printed elsewhere, you must forward with your submission an email from that publisher giving The Messenger rights to reprint.

Content must be educational in nature; send us a commercial, we will call you for an ad.

Info to include: Every article used is accompanied by the author's full name, contact information and, if space allows, a short bio and photo. Please send this information with your submissions.

Text must be saved in one of these formats: .txt, .doc or pasted into the body of your email

Photos must be sent as separate files, not included in text document or embedded in email. Photos must be a minimum 240 dpi and saved as .jpg OR .tifWe accept articles up to 500 words. This includes your bio.

Writer's Guidelines for Article Submissions

• submitted in Times New Roman font, 10 pt size

• single spaced

• one space only between sentences and after colons

• .25" indent at the beginning of new paragraphs

• Capitalize only the first letter of each word in the title

• Articles written in ALL CAPS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. .

Community Announcements/Press Releases

Community Announcements are what the Messenger is all about! To submit announcements please send via email or U.S. post to arrive at least 7 days prior to publication date.

Please include a contact name and phone number or email address if applicable.

We make every effort to include as many Non-Profit Announcements as possible, however, we reserve the right to prioritize and publish as space allows. Editing will be provided, if needed. Photos may be included, but may or may not be used and will not be returned.

Writing Services are available for a fee. If your business or non-profit needs a brochure or press-release written, proofread and/or edited, call us! We offer reasonable rates and quick turnaround.
